Representatives of the Old Catholic Curch of the Mariavites are guests of the IBC 2010

The International Old Catholic Bishops’ Conference (IBC) decided at its meeting in February 2009 in Karlik, Czech Republic, to invite the leading bishop of the Old Catholic Church of the Mariavites in Poland as a guest to its annual meetings.

From 13th to 17th June 2010 the Old Catholic Bishops of the Union of Utrecht met at Wislikofen, Switzerland. The meeting welcomed as guests the former leading bishop of the Old Catholic Mariavite Church in Poland, Zdzislaw M. Jaworski, who is also the Co-Chair of the Old Catholic – Mariavite Dialogue Commission, and Father Piotr Grzegorz Drozdz. They represented the leading bishop of their church, Bishop Michal M. Ludwik Jablonski.

Bishop Jaworski gave a detailed report on the life in the Mariavite Church in Poland which led to a fruitful discussion. He also participated in the general deliberations of the IBC. The co-operation gave reason for hope that the dialogue between the two churches would reach a successful conclusion in the foreseeable future, i.e. that it will lead to the restoration of the membership of the Union of Utrecht for the Mariavite Church
