IBC meets in Amersfoort: Communiqué of the IBC 2025

Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 June saw the annual consultation of Old Catholic and Anglican bishops in continental Europe.

Despite the Dutch train strikes, the bishops managed to travel to Amersfoort. The meeting was held at the Old Catholic conference centre Alticollense, which also houses the Episcopal Office of the Old Catholic Church of the Netherlands. This year, the bishops paid particular attention to the church in times of war and to relations with churches in war zones. The situation in their own churches was also discussed.

From Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 June, the sessions of the International Old Catholic Bishops’ Conference took place, attended by representatives of the sister churches. Among other things, the bishops received an update on the Old Catholic Congress 2026 and studied the theme “The Ecumenical Mission of the Union of Utrecht.”

The official communiqué of the session can be downloaded on this page.
