| Old
Catholic theologians are trained in Germany at the Old Catholic
Seminary of the University of Bonn, founded in 1902 by the
Prussian government. (www.uni-bonn.de/alt-kath/).
The seminary consists of one professorial chair concentrating on
church history and systematic theology and an academic associate.
Students can attend subjects that are not taught at the seminary
at either of the other two theological faculties in Bonn. Since
2003 there has also been cooperation with these faculties in the
giving of individual examinations. In particular, the episcopal
Seminary Johanneum (founded in 1887) offers classes in Practical
Theology. (see the Homepage
of Döllingerhaus, which houses the seminary: www.doellingerhaus.de).
The study of Old Catholic Theology finishes with an examination by
the church. The normal length of studies is 10 semesters. |
